Long Arm “The Branches”

Recently i posted Long Arm’s (in fact Georgy Kotunov) video but I like his works so much that I have to share a little more of his music . Gregory is from Orneburg, which is situated very close to Russian- Kazakhstan border. Now he lives in Moscow and having provincial background he makes great music, which seems to be made somewhere in London or NYC studio. It is a sign of our times, when a man from a place so distant from a centers of musical life of a genres he is involved makes music so deeply immersed in sounds so remote from his origin culture. His albums (“The Branches”, “Organic”) sound extremely western while still having some eastern fantasia, which gives his tunes so great sound. Fantastic samples, loops and much, much more.

Gilles Petterson from BBC Radio 1 chose “The Waterfall Inside Me” by Long Arm the best track of the year  2011. For me it’s not the best last year tune, but it’s deamn good like a rest of his works.

Check this track called “The Branches” (feat. Teknikal Development).

Murcof “Reflejo”

While I hardly write any comments to music I post here, when I do it I use a lot of words full of exaltation. I post here music I like the most so it’s somehow justified, but maybe sometimes I do it to much. But here I should do it again because the track below is just great. It’s not easy music, but bloody good. Very cinematic, mysterious, full of space and plans.

If You don’t know Murcof’s music yet, please check his works. He is one of the most interesting and skilled electronic musician I know. You should listen his LPs from the start to the end, becasuse they are always a tale, which should be told uninterrupted. Here You can listen to epic “Rememberanza”.

Massive Attack “Risingson”

Yes, this track is very dark but it is an outstanding piece of music as well. For me one of the very best tunes recorded by Massive Attak and definitely the best on Mezzanine LP. These deep sounds, underlined by simple but so expressive bassline with drowsy voices of 3D and Daddy G are just stunning. It’s narcotic, addictive and yet given with such a great flow, meaty beat and top notch production. Well, a masterpiece from one of the best musical projects I have ever heard. Definitely it has it’s place in my all time hall of fame.
Waiting for more like this Wild Bunch!
