The Strike Boys “Cocaine Is A Sin”
Thievery Corporation “The Fundation”
From propably the best album of Thievery Corporation (“Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi”):
Gus Gus “Superhuman”
In ’90 Gus Gus was for me one of the most interesting downtempo/elctronica groups. They started as 9 people band and began with a great “Polydistortion” album, then came also very good “This is Normal” (from which this track is). After there was very different from previous releases “Gus Gus vs. T-World” – very ambient and techno in sound, which confirmed that they still can suprise very well.
More contemporary productions aren’t that sophisticated. The band counts only 3 person (Veiran, President Bongo and Herb Legowitz) and remains more in dance ambiance. Some of their tunes are still worth of a look, but this is not what I would like Gus Gus to be.
Tarwater “Watersample”
This masterpiece was created by German duo (Bernd Jestram and Ronald Lippok) called Tawater. They started in punk band Rosa Extra and finished in post-rock and avant-pop ambiance. They are also known as a very ineresting theatre music authors. The “Watersample” was previously named “Warsaw on the roof” and is absolutley stunning and worth of turning Your loop mode on Your player.
The Amalgamation of Soundz “Enchant Me” [Original 12′ Mix]
Massive Attack “Unfinished Sympathy”
Well… I don’t have to write why it’s here. First is the original version from epic “Blue Lines” and below You can find realy great mix made by Nellee Hooper. It doesn’t differ to much from the original, but it has some nice energetic touch I realy like.
Nellee Hooper 7” Mix:
Jon Kennedy “Tell Me How You Feel” (Bonobo Mix)
When good musician meets Bonobo, we have something like this:
DJ Shadow – Midnight in a Perfect World
Another oldschool classic. The “Endtroducing” – DJ Shadow album publishd in Isalnd Records in 1995 was a real milestone for hip-hop, trip-hop and electronic music at all. From this moment sampler became to be widely regarded as real instrument and not as electronic toy anymore. “Midnight…” and any other track on this album shows why…
Björk “Unravel” – live@New York
For me Björk is different spices of human and artist, beyond calssifications in music, so she will be posted here many times. Here is an exeptional live version of “Unravel” from “Homogenic” recorded at New York Riverside Chapel.
They say that 3/4 from all songs are about love, which can be truth. For me this is one of the most beautyful.
