Utah Jazz “Take No More”
Goldie “Innercity Life”
Becouse of today desert on drum’n’bass scene we have to call back past, but fortunetely there is something good to listen to from ’90’s:
Portishead “Glory Box”
The XX “Night Time”
Morcheeba “Who Can You Trust”
Nightmares On Wax “Les Nuits”
Burial “Ghost Hardware”
Both two Burial albums – debut “Burial” and “Untrue” – were extremly important and widely commented in media. And majority od voices were full of praise. “Burial” was on 5th place of “Mixmag” best album of the year chart (2006). Untrue was called the album of the year in many internet magazines. Both recordings were real milestones for dubstep scene. Below “Ghost hardware” from “Untrue”:
Painted
For a good start of a day two painted :-) d’n’b tracks:
Commix “Painted Smile”
Seba “Painted Skies”
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – “Cursed Sleep”
Bonnie “Prince” Billy – actually Will Oldham – is for me one of the most interesting American musicians now. He shines on alternative scene. Radiohead had it’s “Computer OK” and he had “I see a Darkness”, which is brilliant and anything he will do in future will be compared to this album, but he is the rear example of man who was able to match his succsess in next recordings.
He seeks in roots of american folk music, he is simple, he follows his own artistic path, and this path is definitely worth of, at least, short stroll.
